Epic Movie (Unrated Edition) Review

On the basis of promotions that there should be one the worst films of the year. The scene comes to mind is that of Peter (Adam Campbell dress) as Superman shot in the eye, which met again the respiratory system. Auful This was a scene, and was simply the worst scene in the film. Surprisingly, the rest of the movie was much better. The four main charcter was fun, though not particularly large, for the most part. The 'Supporting Actor, though, is fantastic andincludes David Carradine, Crispin Glover, Darrell Hammond, Fred Willard and Jennifer Coolidge. Darrel Hammond is especially good as Jack Swallows. His impression of Johnny Depp just makes this movie worth it. Lazy Pirate Song is awesome, as the song of the nativity. I abhor the music, usually in comedy, because usually people like Sandler or equal to people without talent singing songs juvenile and insipid evil. Not only the songs in this movie very modern pop standards (not hard to do)but are actually pretty well some 'standards, and the video are hilarious. The Hairy Beaver and Mr. Tumnus pair are large, as the scene of Harry Potter. Fred Willard is wonderfully funny as the lion, and deleted scenes with him and his stunt double were also enjoyable. This film is wonderfully good at some parts, with moments of madness juvinile is interlaced.

I can not understand why so many people that the film (but then I hatedcan not understand why so many people like Seth Rogen and Dane Cook (and Dennis Miller and Jimmy Falone, etc etc)). It 's a good movie dissaster infinatley (that made by the same person), and is much better than it would be Seth Rogen and Dane Cook, etc. Although it contains some satire that could not appeal to some people, I think this is a film that can be enjoyed by anyone with a sense of humor. Or am I wrong or is there watching a lot of people out therePlays, without a sense of humor.

My best guess is that if you loved Water Boy, and you Dane Cook, you can not appreciate this film.

Epic Movie (Unrated Edition) Overview

The hilarious hi-jinks begin when a hapless group of orphans from curious backgrounds come together to embark on an adventure that takes them to a special chocolate factory where they fall into an enchanted wardrobe and wind-up in a magical land. Here, hilarity ensues when the bungling bunch run into a colorful collection of characters including a flamboyant pirate and a gang of wizardry-apprentices who they join forces with to overthrow the wicked White Bitch of Gnarnia.

Epic Movie (Unrated Edition) Specifications

By dint of the inexplicable popularity of their send-up of movie genres in the parody movies Scary Movie and Date Movie, writer/director duo Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer probably got an epic-sized bucket of cash for this hastily stitched pastiche of drive-by entertainment. There’s no particular variety of movie they were sent to send up this time, unless big box-office grossers has now become a genre in and of itself. If so, Epic Movie may well qualify as part of that league itself. Very little expense has been spared to make so-called “comic” references to a slew of mostly recent blockbusters–The Chronicles of Narnia, Borat, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the X-Men and Harry Potter series, Superman Returns, Nacho Libre, and The Da Vinci Code to name a few–and it’s assumed we’ve seen them all. In a goofy thread of a story about four orphans plucked from some of the above, battle must be done through various bastardized plots from same so that a prophecy can be fulfilled and they can assume their rightful place as rulers of a sacred land. Lots of crotch kicks, fart, urine, and vomit jokes speed by as we pass through Willie Wonka’s factory and a magical wardrobe with an unusually interesting assortment of look-alikes and name actors caught up in the gag mix (some of it legitimately funny). Darrell Hammond, Crispin Glover, David Carradine, Kevin McDonald, Carmen Electra, Kal Penn put on game (and sometimes gamy) faces, and it’s definitely a hoot to watch comedy improv alums Fred Willard and Jennifer Coolidge as Aslo the Lion and the White Bitch do battle in a Narnian good vs. evil character smackdown. As lame as you already expect a movie like this to be, anything that can throw together an homage to C.S. Lewis alongside MTV’s Punk’d in less than 90 minutes can’t be all bad. –Ted Fry

Master and Commander – The Far Side of the World (Widescreen Edition)

Master and Commander – The Far Side of the World (Widescreen Edition) Review

This film really reflects the umbilical of life at sea. The road was filmed and was traded, so real life and credible. The words were full of marine life, sea tanged Royal felt like with the men who occupy the bridge, paving the way for a battle on the waves of the sea, near a mysterious tropical island or remote, such as launching a toy to a world of water. The film fills the screen with two excellent actors, Russell Crowe is one and the other forgotten his name, but hisSkills in the Performing Arts shines. The film reflects the camaraderie of men and reasons to appreciate the captain and the doctor. They are men of all ages with the youngest pre-teen. You must be excited all at the service of the Crown in the fight against the French fleet. The film is about the cat and mouse between the struts Surprise tailored manned by the British and the French Avature. Russell ship, boat Captain Jack is not done as good as the increased competition faster. TheFilm shows and their hunting strategies in the fight last meeting and for the price. The paintings in the film are so beautiful with the color and the desire to be at this time. A celebration of genius sumpetious symbolic. The crashing waves full of dark secrets. The Bounty floating beneath the rails, wooden ship full of fruit with fragrant and beautiful indigenous men and women sell their wares. I loved the scene where the men their dinners, the shares of young and old with their travel anectadotesand meetings with significant others. The crystal and silver dishes Grouchy chef. The navigation equipment was visually pleasing to watch and create representations of themselves in this experience. The music and the friendship of Stephen receive the doctor and the captain. Their respect for each other, tested by life lessons. I especially liked the shipment of medical knowledge to distant lands and animals that had not traveled signed in Pounds Sterling. Itsdrawings and doctoring his discoveries, his ability in patients, crispy, with salt and young sweat. The sweltering heat when the glider was still sitting there was the ship on the wrinkle smoothing the deep blue. The great adventure that came from his trip, as the island Gallpagos fueled my desire to distant lands. Bon Voyage.

Master and Commander – The Far Side of the World (Widescreen Edition) Overview

When a sudden attack by a French warship inflicts casualities and severe damage upon his vessel, Captain “Lucky” Jack Aubrey (Crowe) of the British Royal Navy is torn between duty and friendship as he embarks on a thrilling, high-stakes chase across two oceans to intercept and capture the enemy at any cost. Nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture!

Master and Commander – The Far Side of the World (Widescreen Edition) Specifications

In the capable hands of director Peter Weir, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World is a seafaring adventure like no other, impeccably authentic, dynamically cast, and thrilling enough to give any classic swashbuckler a run for its money. In adapting two of Patrick O’Brian’s enormously popular novels about British naval hero Capt. Jack Aubrey, Weir and cowriter John Collee have changed the timeframe from the British/American war of 1812 to the British/French opposition of 1805, where the HMS Surprise, under Aubrey’s confident command, is patrolling the South Atlantic in pursuit of the Acheron, a French warship with the strategic advantage of greater size, speed, and artillery. Russell Crowe is outstanding as Aubrey, firm and fiercely loyal, focused on his prey even if it means locking horns with his friend and ship’s surgeon, played by Crowe’s A Beautiful Mind costar Paul Bettany. Employing a seamless combination of carefully matched ocean footage, detailed models, full-scale ships, and CGI enhancements, Weir pays exacting attention to every nautical detail, while maintaining a very human story of honor, warfare, and survival under wretched conditions. Raging storms and hull-shattering battles provide pulse-pounding action, and a visit to the Galapagos Islands lends a note of otherworldly wonder, adding yet another layer of historical perspective to this splendidly epic adventure. –Jeff Shannon

Crystal Clear Scratch Resistant Screen Guard Protector LCD Shield (Front and Back) for Apple iPod Video/ iPod Video U2 Special Edition Review

Special price available at Amazon

all the one star reviews on this are crap because they all have the wrong kind of ipod. THIS IS FOR THE 30/60/80 GIG IPODS ONLY!!!!. I’m talking about first generation ipod video stuff. White and black. Not white and grey. If your ipod has a metal front, not the platic, then you are out of luck.

Anyways, all you have to do to get this on perfectly is this: Get a bowl, put a squirt of handsoap in it and fill it with warm water. Peel off the protector so the sticky side is exposed, dip it in the water, place it on your ipod while still wet, position it so it is just right, squige out all the water with a piece of cardboard or something and wait overnight. in the morning it will be dry and stuck on there without a single speck of dust or air bubble underneith.

Anyway quality product for the perfect price.
DO BUY!

The Great Debaters (2-Disc Special Collector’s Edition)

The Great Debaters (2-Disc Special Collector’s Edition) Review

Special price available at Amazon

Before I saw the final scene, I was getting ready to give this movie a three star rating. But this movie was so close to greatness that I didn’t want to have to give it only three stars.

My only complaint with the movie is that not enough was shown about how the debaters prepared themselves to become top notch debaters. Only the superficialities were covered. The harder aspects, the long hours of research and the knowledge of logic and persuasion were barely even alluded too. What did Denzel Washington’s character (the debating coach) study that prepared him to be such an excellent debater? The classics, I’m sure. The ancient Greeks, and the European and American scholars who came after them. Why was this glossed over? This movie had an excellent opportunity to teach as well as to inspire and entertain.

In Stand and Deliver, a big part of the movie was the endless drilling of the students. We got a sense of how one goes about becoming a superior student in math. Practice, practice, and more practice. But in this movie that aspect was rushed through and almost glossed over. We don’t know how the students acquired such a sophisticated understanding of argumentation. We don’t know anything about what they had to go through to prepare for a debate. The basics of good debate should have been explained. But they weren’t. So we are left imagining that the most important part of debate is being *in* the right. But that’s not enough. One must be able to *argue* the right and support one’s argument. That’s what debate is all about.

I hope Denzel Washington filmed some extra footage of the coach and the students as they were preparing for debates. If so, then I think that footage should be restored in a director’s cut version. To leave that part of the story out in the name of keeping the film short is a horrendous decision in a film like this. But I have no doubt that it was a producer who made the decision, not Washington. That’s so typical in Hollywood. Many movies are just shy of greatness due to an over-zealous producer leaving his paw prints all over the movie. Hollywood knows nothing if not how to screw up a good thing.

How can we believe the characters are good debaters? We must take the word of the writers and director. They don’t give us any evidence of the characters starting as inexperienced debaters then growing to be master debaters. Obviously it happened, because it’s history. But that is a part of history, a part of the story, they didn’t show us. I simply can’t fathom why they would leave out such a vital aspect of the story. It would be like watching The Right Stuff and leaving out all of the training the astronauts went through. It makes no sense.

The Great Debaters (2-Disc Special Collector’s Edition) Overview

Two-time Academy Award® winner Denzel Washington (American Gangster) directs and stars with Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker (Last King of Scotland) in this important and deeply inspiring page from the not-so-distant past (Richard Roeper, At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper). Inspired by a true story, Washington shines as a brilliant but politically radical debate team coach who uses the power of words to transform a group of underdog African American college students into an historical powerhouse that took on the Harvard elite. The Great Debaters (2-Disc Special Collector’s Edition) Specifications

Inspired by real events, the fascinating The Great Debaters reveals one of the seeds of the Civil Rights Movement in its story of Melvin B. Tolson (Denzel Washington in a captivating performance) and his champion 1935 debate club from the all-African-American Wiley College in Texas. Tolson, a Wiley professor, labor organizer, modernist poet, and much else, runs a rigorous debate program at the school, selecting four students as his team in ’35, among them the future founder of the Congress of Racial Equality, James Farmer Jr. (Denzel Whitaker). Washington, who directed The Great Debaters from a script by Robert Eisele (The Dale Earnhardt Story), anchors the story with the team’s measurable progress, but the film is also about the state of race relations in America at the height of the Great Depression. With lynchings of black men and women a common form of entertainment and black subjugation for many rural whites, the idea of talented and highly intelligent African-American young people learning to think on their feet during debates would seem almost a hopeless endeavor. But that’s not the way Tolson sees it, as his students serve themselves and the cause of racial equality in America with energetic arguments in favor of progressive government and non-violence as a viable social movement. There are some startling moments in this movie, particularly the sight of a man found lynched and burned to death, and an extraordinary moment in which we see black sharecroppers and white farmers engaged with Tolson in arguments about unionizing together. Forest Whitaker is outstanding as Farmer’s emotionally-reserved father, also a Wiley professor. This is the kind of film where one hopes two great actors such as the elder Whitaker and Washington will have a scene together, and when it comes it’s as powerful as one might hope. –Tom Keogh

Sibelius Student Edition V5

Sibelius Student Edition V5 Review

Special price available at Amazon

I explored all the options and chose the Student version of Sibelius. I couldn’t be happier. It takes care of my writing and transposing needs and produces nice clean copies of music that I can share in email or print out. It also supports MIDI input from my keyboard. The price was right, and it doesn’t load a huge program on my computer that I’ll only use 1/4 of. I’m so glad Sibelius makes this stripped down version for people like me who don’t need all the bells and whistles. I may never need to upgrade!

Sibelius Student Edition V5 Feature

  • Notate, play back, compose for video, transpose and print music
  • Input notes via mouse, computer or MIDI keyboard
  • Publish your music on the Internet
  • Opens Sibelius, MusicXML and MIDI files, exports MIDI files, web pages and Sibelius 4 or 5 scores
  • Hundreds of built-in ideas to help you get started

The all-new Sibelius Student adds hundreds of extra features over previous versions. There’s composing for video, up to 12 staves per system, and over 250 ready-made snippets of notation to get you started. Sibelius Student is compatible with the full Sibelius program (versions 4 and 5) – so you can take pieces home from school to continue working on, then bring them back to school again. Even if your school doesn’t have Sibelius, Sibelius Student saves MIDI files for use with all other music software. Do I need Sibelius Student or Sibelius 5?
